We are looking for someone to join us as a chaplain working across East Sussex. This is an exciting opportunity to expand and develop chaplaincy support services in our housing projects alongside our paid staff teams providing young people with informal support and, where appropriate, spiritual input. The chaplain will manage and support a new team of volunteer chaplains to deliver chaplaincy and will also provide some support for our staff in recognition of the challenging work that they are doing.

In addition the role will also focus on developing positive relationships with local Christian & faith communities, that enable those communities to support and participate with the work of the YMCA.

The post holder will be also be responsible for coordinating prayer support and other forms of Christian devotion where appropriate. The role will work closely with the Head of Communities for East Sussex and the Lead Chaplain, and for one day a week the postholder will support chaplaincy work across the whole of YMCA DownsLink group.

As part of a genuine occupational requirement the post holder will be required to demonstrate an active Christian faith. Our mission is inclusive; the chaplain will work as part of a staff team that have a wide range of personal beliefs.

Some formal theological training or background would be advantageous, but not essential, key for the organisation is to find a person with the right personal characteristics that fit with our culture.
