We are proud to announce that YMCA DLG is leading on a brand new campaign aimed at ending street homelessness in Brighton & Hove. Galvanise Brighton & Hove is part of the European Campaign to End Street Homelessness, a project which has seen 1000 volunteers survey rough sleepers in cities across Europe.
The aim of GalvaniseBH is simple – local people working together to end rough sleeping. The campaign sits alongside the vision of the City’s Rough Sleepers Strategy which aims to make sure that no-one has the need to sleep rough in Brighton & Hove by 2020.
Watch this heart-warming short film by Toby Madden on how this campaign has been run across Europe.
As part of the campaign we are recruiting volunteers to go out in their community and speak with people living on the streets to collect information about their needs, wants and aspirations. We also need volunteers to input and analyse data and help out with tasks such as making tea and administration. If you would like to get involved please see our dedicated website.
GalvaniseBH is run by YMCA DownsLink Group in partnership with Brighton YMCA, St. Mungo’s, The Passage, Fulfilling Lives, Brighton and Hove City Council and a variety of community organisations and local businesses.
