The 118 Challenge - Test page - YMCA DownsLink Group

Take part in our latest challenge to help raise awareness and vital funds to help children and young people in your community.

Last year, 118,134 young people went to their council presenting themselves as homeless or at risk of homelessness. This number has dramatically increased from the previous year.

To raise awareness on this number and to raise money to help young people in Sussex and Surrey who are at risk of homelessness, we are asking people to take on a challenge around the number 136.

Getting involved is easy! Just register your interest through this form and we will send you our fundraising pack where you will find some ideas and instructions on how to set up a Just Giving page.

Once you have set up your Just Giving page, let us know and we will send you some things you can share on your socials. Also, do let us know if you need anything else for your challenge.

Decide what challenge you’re going to take on and from there you can work out how best to raise money;

  • Doing a physical activity? Ask for sponsorship.
  • Doing a bake sale or raffle? Sell cake/tickets for £1.18.
  • Host a dinner party and ask guests to donate £11.80.

See more ideas here.

Last year, every one in 62 young people (aged 16 - 25)  facing or at risk of homelessness. That is a young person finding themselves homeless every four minutes.

In the South East of the UK alone, 10,002 young people are at homeless or at risk of homelessness. No young person chooses to be homeless and they need our help now more than ever.

The 118 Challenge is here to help raise awareness around this staggering figure and to help us raise money to go towards our crisis-preventing services for children and young people.
