We’re excited to share our new Chaplaincy Recipe Book, inspired by the meals that bring young people, volunteer chaplains and colleagues together across our supported housing.
Shared food has always been at the heart of our chaplaincy sessions. Our multi-faith chaplains create spaces where young people can relax, talk openly, connect with others and feel part of a supportive community. Many young people describe these weekly meals as a rare moment that feels “like family.”
The idea for the recipe book began when a chaplain asked a resident about their favourite meals. That resident gathered suggestions from others living in our supported accommodation, creating a menu of dishes that mean something to them. Our chaplain, supported by our dedicated volunteer chaplains, then turned those ideas into a full recipe collection — with young residents helping shape the design.
These meals have brought people together in powerful ways, and we hope the recipe book inspires more of the same at home.
Alongside each recipe, we’ve included simple energy use information, showing the estimated wattage used to prepare each meal and rating them green, yellow or red. It’s an easy way to understand environmental impact and make informed choices when cooking.
