We’re delighted that young people using our counselling service in Sussex colleges have given inspiring, positive, feedback.
Young people from three Sussex colleges have given overwhelmingly positive feedback for our Dialogue counselling services – the only service accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapists working in education settings in the South East.
We create services that are inclusive and accessible, and that children and young people trust and want to use. So, we are delighted with this feedback published in these colleges’ counselling services most recent annual reports.
Our Dialogue counselling service is used by students in the Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College (BHASVIC), Brighton College, and The College of Richard Collyer (Collyer’s) in Horsham.
Young people were asked at the end of their counselling sessions whether they felt counselling had been helpful to them. 100% of students rated it as ‘Helpful’ or ’Very helpful’, with the majority giving a rating of ‘Very helpful’.
Most of the feedback from the students is about how talking to one of our counsellors helped:
“It helps to talk, to get my thoughts off my chest. It’s nice to have someone to talk to and who will listen to me for a decent amount of time, because I don’t always have that.”
“Talking about my issues and getting some help and exercises that help with panic attacks.”
“I felt heard, and listened to, and I felt like the sessions were totally focused on what I needed and wanted to talk about.”
“I feel better at dealing with social situations and when I feel down.”
We offer Dialogue counselling services in 40 schools and sixth form colleges across Sussex, and in the community (Brighton and Hove, and West Sussex).
The ever-increasing level of risk and complexity faced by children and young people has driven the charity’s services to be needed now more than ever.
Anita Barnard, our Therapeutic Services Schools and Community Manager, said:
“The Dialogue school counselling service has been operating since 1994 and provides a professional, safe and ethical counselling service to schools and colleges across Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex. Early interventions through school counselling help children and young people at the time of need, and support them to build resilience into their futures.”
