About the Position

Volunteer role title: Youth Work Intern
Location: YMCA YAC Eastbourne
Hours per week: 7-14 hours per week
Unpaid: Voluntary

Are you an enthusiastic and creative person who is up for a challenge and enjoys working with young people? If so, we would love to hear from you!

YMCA DownsLink is one of the largest providers of youth services in the South East, and we are currently expanding our range of services in Eastbourne. We are looking for two ambitious, motivated and skilled interns to support our growing youth services in Eastbourne. These are new posts and we are looking for a minimum of 3 months commitment.

This is a varied role and an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in youth work, whilst supporting some of the most vulnerable and marginalised young people in Sussex. The ideal candidates will shadow key staff, support the running of our youth clubs and youth groups, lead on social media, attend meetings with our partners, devise activities, organise fundraising activities, and complete administration tasks. Interns will play a key role in supporting new projects on dance and music.

The role will be based at our YAC office in Eastbourne and will involve work at other sites in Eastbourne where we run our youth clubs. Occasional evening work will be required and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

If you’d like an informal chat about the role, please call Edwina (Volunteer Coordinator for Eastbourne) on 07943 911 479 or contact Recruitment at [email protected] or on 01273 222550.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community. The successful candidates will be provided with a full induction, structured mentoring and access to YMCA DownsLink training opportunities. We are also committed to flexible working arrangements and hours to fit around other commitments.

YMCA DLG requires all staff and volunteers to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and to respond proactively to safeguarding concerns.

Successful applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
