We’re delighted to share that YMCA DownsLink Group’s Therapeutic Services has successfully passed its 2025 British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Service annual evaluation.
The assessor praised our submission as “detailed and comprehensive” and highlighted the inclusion of policies and procedures as “impressive.” This accreditation confirms that our service continues to meet the highest professional standards in counselling and psychotherapy for children and young people in Sussex and Surrey.
About our therapeutic services
We are commissioned to deliver a wide range of counselling and therapeutic interventions for children and young people aged 4–24 across Sussex and Surrey. Our work includes:
- Mental health interventions in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust through the Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service
- Community mental health support in West Sussex
- Digital mental health resources through our e-wellbeing service
- Counselling and therapy in schools and colleges across the region.
Why accreditation matters
BACP accreditation is awarded for a five-year period, with annual reviews to ensure services meet rigorous standards. This achievement reflects our commitment to safe, ethical, and effective therapeutic care.
Listening and improving
We regularly gather feedback from service users through ORS/CORS outcome measures, post-counselling feedback forms, patient evaluation questionnaires (PEQ), and paired scores for measurable change and improvement. These insights help us continually develop and improve our services.
Anita Barnard, our Therapeutic Services Manager said:
“We’re thrilled to have passed the BACP annual evaluation once again. This accreditation is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our team, ensuring that children and young people receive the highest quality therapeutic support. Maintaining these standards is vital for the wellbeing of the communities we serve.”
Congratulations to everyone involved in maintaining these high standards and supporting young people’s mental health.
