Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, we are reaffirming our commitment to creating spaces where trans and nonbinary young people feel respected, supported and able to thrive. This day is a reminder that visibility is not the end goal – it’s part of the work we do every day to make our services safer and more inclusive.
As part of strengthening that commitment, we have signed up to the HouseProud LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, delivered by Stonewall Housing. The Pledge gives organisations like ours a clear framework for improving LGBTQ+ inclusion across housing services; from amplifying resident voice, to building staff confidence, to increasing representation and visibility in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.
For us, this is a step that aligns with our wider Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) goals: listening to young people, understanding the barriers they face, and acting on what we hear. The Pledge will support us to continue making sure our services, communications and decision-making reflect and respect the diversity of the young people we work alongside.
Visibility matters because young people deserve homes and services where who they are is recognised, respected and supported – not just today, but in the everyday decisions we make.
Our commitment is long-term, and this is one way we are choosing to strengthen it.
