Location: Crawley, West Sussex, UK

Fixed Term 6-month contract

12 hours per week

£19,240 per annum (pro-rata)

£6,156 per annum (actual)

 

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer (LGBTQ+) Youth Support Worker* to provide support for LGBTQ+ and unsure young people between the ages of 11-25.

This role will be based at the newly established Crawley YAC (Youth Advice Centre) located at Crawley Foyer, working in partnership with Crawley LGBTQU+ to develop the pilot project. The workload of the role will be split between supporting residents in the Foyer and the wider Crawley community. Both weekly youth group session will be delivered in the evenings on weekdays; the remaining delivery hours may be delivered flexibly.

The post holder will be responsible for planning and facilitating two weekly youth groups for 11-15 year-olds and for 16-25 year-olds. Through the youth groups, the post holder will support young people to access specialist support services including emotional health, sexual health, housing and LGBTQU+ support, following up with 1:1 support as required.

Applicants must be experienced in working with children and young people who identify as LGBTQU+, have an excellent knowledge of the challenges faced by LGBTQU+ children and young people and have a good knowledge of local services in Crawley. Applicants will ideally have at least a Level 2 Youth Work qualification or equivalent qualification relevant to the role.
