We’re really pleased to share that we’ve sold Gorings Mead in Horsham to Horsham YM Football Club – unlocking vital funding to support children and young people, while securing the future of the site for community football.
This is a positive outcome for everyone involved, following close collaboration between both organisations to reach an agreement that benefits the wider community. The sale secures the future of a 97-year-old community leisure location and also means we can invest more into what matters most: providing safe homes, mental health support and trusted advice for children and young people across Sussex and Surrey – especially as demand for our services continues to grow.
Gorings Mead has been part of our story since 1929. For generations, it’s been a place where people come together through sport, and we’re proud that this important community space will continue to thrive.
With the football club now taking ownership, they have a strong platform to build on their long-standing work – developing the site and continuing to offer grassroots football for years to come.
Bobby Dhol, our Director of Finance, said:
“We are thrilled to have worked with the football club’s committee to conclude this sale. We wish the club all the very best for the future as they continue their long legacy of providing community football from Gorings Mead. We are pleased that proceeds from this sale will help us to further our charitable mission.”
Steve Ratcliffe, Chairman of Horsham YM Football Club, commented:
“We would like to thank everyone involved in this process for their dedication and professionalism. Securing the long-term future of Gorings Mead ensures it remains a vital sporting and leisure asset for the community. We wish YMCA DownsLink Group every success as they continue their important work.”
