Three runners will take part in the London Marathon on behalf of YMCA DownsLink Group, with funds raised going to support the work of the YMCA in Guildford.

Elizabeth Pratt, a solicitor with Penningtons Manches LLP signed up when her colleagues decided to support the local YMCA – several of them ‘slept rough’ on 16 March in the Castle Grounds as part of the Sleep Easy event.  Elizabeth says, “YMCA Guildford is a great local charity, based in the heart of the town and supporting children and young people in the local community, so I’ll be putting in all the miles I can to raise as much as possible!”  Elizabeth’s fundraising page is at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ElizabethPratt3

James Slater has supported YMCA Guildford with a marathon run already.  He says, “It was six years ago that I ran the London Marathon for the YMCA in a time of 3 hours 11 minutes. I thought it was time to give it another go on 22 April 2018 and support the amazing work of YMCA DownsLink Group.”  For an extra challenge he’s hoping to complete the course in less than three hours this time!  He makes an interesting offer… see his fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jamesslater2018

Sandy Gallie works at YMCA Guildford and will also run the Marathon.  He says, “I believe it is so important to be helping our young residents at YMCA Guildford so that they can fulfil their true potential despite any initial setbacks they may have had to overcome.  Enjoy the day watching this 60 year old codger slug his way around the course – I just know it’s going to hurt!”  Sandy can often be seen running around Guildford and Chiddingfold and is very happy to accept donations on his way!  Alternatively donations are most welcome at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sandygallie
