Support and Advice Worker (Housing) – Crawley

Job Title: Support and Advice Worker (Housing) - Crawley

Location: Crawley, West Sussex, UK

Salary: £23,355 per annum (pro-rata) £18,684 per annum (actual)

Hours: 30

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2022

Closing date: 26th May 2021

We are looking for a dedicated individual who is committed to providing a high-level of support and is passionate about reaching under-served communities.

YAC Crawley provides young people (aged 11-25) from Crawley and surrounding areas with information, advice, guidance and counselling services. We are seeking an experienced youth worker to join our rapidly growing YMCA DLG Youth Advice Centre (YAC) team in Crawley.

This role primarily involves providing a wide range of wellbeing support to children and young people (11-25 year-old) old, with a focus on supporting young people with concerns around Housing and Homelessness.

The successful applicant will be experienced in supporting children and young people using a trauma-informed and culturally competent approach, which may suit someone who has previously held a support worker, youth worker or social worker role, or who has worked within a specific remit working with young people from under-served communities.

You will be joining an experienced multi-disciplinary team who deliver support services to young people across West Sussex. You will be located primarily within the Youth Advice Centre, which is part of the YMCA Crawley Foyer building, but you will also be encouraged to develop strong partnerships with other local youth services where you may be able to co-locate.

We understand that young people from BAME and LGBTQU+ communities are disproportionately affected by youth homelessness and mental health issues and that this issue is compounded by a lack of representation from these communities within the workforce. As such, we would particularly welcome applicants from the under-served communities this role hopes to reach.

The position comes with excellent benefits, including 27 days annual leave per annum (plus bank holidays), a company sick pay scheme, a life assurance policy of 2x your annual salary, a health and wellbeing cash plan, and a cycle to work scheme.
