New funding for vulnerable victims after report finds boys and young men at risk

Sussex PCC Katy Bourne has announced up to £100,000 of new funding for support services after a report commissioned by her office found boys and young men risk being overlooked as potential victims of sexual exploitation.


Youth Matters Awards finalists announced!

YMCA Youth Matters Awards is an annual awards event, which celebrates the achievements of young people, staff and volunteers.

We are delighted that two of our nominations for YMCA’s Youth Matters Awards 2017 have made it through to the finals.

Pride – mission accomplished

YMCA DLG celebrated Brighton Pride in great style on Saturday 5 August. Our float stood out well among the parade of 100, themed around the Beatles album cover Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band on the 50th anniversary of its release. This tied in nicely with Pride’s ‘Summer of Love’ theme to mark the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in this country. FIND OUT MORE

Fast Track 2 Employment

YMCA DLG is launching a range of Study Programmes that offer learners aged 16-18 (or 19+ with a statement or EHP) genuine sector specific skills and training, with embedded functional skills, and work experience.  This is a great opportunity and stepping stone towards further education, apprenticeships or employment. Family Fun Day in Horsham

On a glorious sunny (and windy) summer day in June, YMCA Horsham went to a free Family Funday event at Bennetts Field.


Looking back at Artists Open Houses

Artists Open Houses, running alongside the Brighton Festival and Fringe each year in May has now drawn to a close at YMCA DLG. Our second year in the exhibition saw more people through the door than last year, partly due to being number 9 on the Hove Arts Trial.


New Brighton & Hove Community Wellbeing Partnership

A new Community Wellbeing Service was launched on 1 June 2017 in Brighton & Hove.

At the end of 2016 YMCA DownsLink Group went into partnership with Here (formerly Brighton Integrated Care Services), Sussex Foundation Partnership NHS Trust and Brighton & Hove Mind to tender for the delivery of a new ‘All Ages’ Community Wellbeing Service (CWS). FIND OUT MORE

Brighton & Hove Hustings Event

In partnership with One Church Brighton, YMCA DownsLink Group staged a hustings event on 26 May for young people and those from marginalised communities.  The event was attended by local parliamentary candidates, young people from our housing projects and residents from the local community.
