This year we have three dedicated runners taking on the London Marathon route to raise funds for YMCA DownsLink Group. James is running for YMCA DownsLink Group and the work we do to help young people belong, contribute and thrive. Elizabeth and Sandy are running to support our work in YMCA Guildford where we provide supporting housing as well as counselling and advice services.
You can read more about their individual stories and make a donation by clicking on the links.
It was six years ago that I ran the London Marathon for the YMCA in a time of 3 hours 11 minutes. I thought it was time to give it another go on 22 April 2018 and support the amazing work of YMCA DownsLink Group.
For a bit of extra fun this year I am taking on the 3 hour challenge. Add #3hourchallenge (along with your name) to the comments against your donation on JustGiving and commit to double your donation (up to £50) if I beat the 3 hour mark. I will double your donation (up to £50 per person and £500 in total) if I fail to hit the 3 hour mark.
My fundraising will be split between YMCA Guildford and YMCA England and Wales.
Enjoy the day watching this 60 year old slug his way around the course – I reckon it’s going to hurt!
YMCA Guildford is a great local charity, based in the heart of the town and supporting children and young people in the local community, so I’ll be putting in all the miles I can to raise as much as possible!
